My name is Frans van Huizen. After working as a medical writer for a clinical research organisation and a biotech company for over 12 years, I started as a freelance medical writer in 2010. Besides writing regulatory documents for the clinical and regulatory departments, I have experience with medical communication documents for the marketing and medical affairs departments. In addition I am active as a translator of German and English medical documents (e.g. SmPC and patient leaflet) into the Dutch language.

After receiving my PhD in neuroscience at the University of Amsterdam, I worked an additional 10 years as research scientist in academia and pharmaceutical companies. My research involved neuroreceptor plasticity, neuropharmacology, and drug discovery. I have nineteen personal publications in peer reviewed journals.

Since 2003, I am a member of the European Medical Writer Association (EMWA) . I have a certificate of the EMWA professional development program for multidisciplinary and pharmaceutical subject areas.
